Pam Walaski, CSP, CHMM is the Director, Health & Safety for GAI Consultants, Inc. an engineering, planning, environmental, and economic consulting firm with 25 offices across the eastern US. GAI has been in business for 56 years and is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. Pam has been a Professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) for many years and has been actively involved in a number of Chapter, Regional and Society initiatives. She is currently the Keystone Area Director for Region VIII; a member of the Council on Professional Affairs; the Student Section Liaison for the Western PA Chapter; and a member of the US TAG for PC 283. She was part of the development team for the highly acclaimed ASSE Risk Assessment Certificate Program and is one of the current instructors. She also serves as a member of the Advisory Boards of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Safety Sciences Program and the University of Pittsburgh Safety Engineering Certificate. She has written many articles for Professional Safety, various safety-related newsletters and is the author of Risk and Crisis Communications: Methods and Messages, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2011. She also served as a Section Coordinator for the Safety Professionals Handbook published by ASSE in 2012 and is one of the editors of the recently published Consultants Business Development Guide. Pam has received several awards for her service to ASSE and the profession, including the CoPS Safety Professional of the Year in 2014 and the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award in 2015. Pam is a lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area, where she lives with her husband and two teenage children. She loves to travel, bike the local rails-to-trails and fly fish.
