Description

George Schuster joined the Rockwell Automation (RA) Industry Solutions Team as a Senior Industry Specialist in 1997. In this position Schuster has provided controls and safety application consulting to RA and RA customers in the areas of advanced system development and system integration. Applications include processes that utilize robots and other process application technologies combined into control solutions designed to support forward-thinking manufacturing philosophies. These new process technologies include tooling and process designs, multi-arm robot technologies, automated design tools, and control and safety equipment integration strategies. Development and prototype activities have resulted in a variety of patents, most in the area of safety and robotic integration, which improve the ways that people interact with automated machinery. Schuster has also been involved in many aspects of Rockwell Automation’s development of comprehensive control system solutions, safety systems and services business development including the GuardLogix line of integrated safety controllers. These solutions are designed to help customers maintain a competitive manufacturing advantage while achieving their business goals. Prior to this position, Schuster spent 14 years as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at General Motors and was responsible for the development, deployment, productionization and management of all aspects of the controls and safety system solution for body shop (BIW). Responsibilities included project management and the role of lead technical manager of controls and safety for tooling, robotics, welding and conveyor systems. Additional responsibilities included system integration for scheduling and tracking systems, quality systems and process design engineering and simulation to ensure manufacturing systems responsive to changes in demand and varying market conditions.
